Terenure Garda Station

We had a fantastic trip to our local Garda Station today. We were shown around by Garda Sé who taught us about the different parts of his uniform and he showed us how he used his walkie-talkie to keep in touch with the gardai back in the station. We saw speed guns and breathalyser machines. We all got a turn on the Garda motorbike but we weren’t too happy about being held in the cell…..hopefully that will be the last time any of us see the inside of a cell!! Thank you to everyone in Terenure Garda Station for making us feel so welcome and for everything you do to keep us safe.

A Visit From Dog’s Trust

Junior Infants were very lucky today as they were visited by Lucy the Cavalier King Charles and her owner Audrey. They work for Dog’s Trust Charity and they taught us how to take care of a dog and also how to safely pet a dog.

Audrey taught us the three important rules of safety with dogs.

1. If they’re eating….leave them alone.

2. If they’re sleeping….leave them alone.

3. If they’re not with their owner…..leave them alone.

We really enjoyed our special visit today as we are learning about the Pet Shop in our Aistear home corner.

Our next theme will be the Garda Station so we are hoping to visit Terenure Garda Station. Watch this space for an update soon!

Check out what we’ve been up to in Junior Infants this month!

Hallowe’en fun in Junior Infants

Christmas Coffee Morning

The countdown to Christmas has officially begun so what better excuse to hold a Christmas coffee morning.

Please join the Parents Association on the morning of 12th December for a coffee and a selection of traditional mince pies and festive treats from 8.30 in the large sports hall.

Grab a coffee on your way to work or take the time to catch up with other parents from your child’s class.

We look forward to seeing you and sharing the festive spirit.

Hallowe’en in Junior Infants

We have had a very busy first term in Junior Infants.  The girls have been planting bulbs, onions and cabbages. We went on a lovely nature walk to Eaton Square, where we collected leaves for our nature tables. We hand-painted bonfires and we have been busy creating leaf prints.

Brian O’Driscoll’s visit to school

Last Wednesday we had a very special surprise visitor to school. Brian O’Driscoll dropped by to say hello with the RBS 6 Nations trophy. We were very honoured in 1st class to be in on the secret and to put on an assembly for Brian filled with facts, questions and singing. He was very impressed with the wonderful reception he received and everyone had a chance to meet the legend himself. Brian you’re welcome back anytime!!

Junior Infants

The Junior Infant classes have been very busy.

We painted beautiful caterpillars.

I wonder what they will turn into, keep an eye out!

We painted our houses in lots of pretty colours.
