Lakelands art

Our last and final day with Jane took place at the end of May on a beautiful sunny Friday. With the weather in our favour it was an ideal opportunity to revisit Lakelands and explore the changes that had taken place since our previous visit. The girls were quick to note blossoms on the trees and little bursts of colour from the flowers.

To begin we set the girls the task of searching for a selection of textures and colours, very quickly everything was located.

Later  Jane suggested to the children that they might like to leave their very own Woodland characters on some trees. These would be made of clay, decorated with leaves and flowers and therefore would not harm the habitat. The imagination and concentration that followed was impressive! One and all thoroughly enjoyed looking at and admiring the finished pieces. The variety was huge and I think you will agree that they are very creative pieces.

Now at the end of their year in Senior Infants the children have been discussing their favourite memories of the year. As expected, many of the activities that they did with Jane were top of the list and were highlights for the class. Working with a visual artist really was a rich learning experience and a fantastic opportunity for the class to have had.

Ms O’Connor’s Junior Infants 2018

We had lots of fun in Junior Infants this year. Check out our photostory with some of our favourite moments during the year.

Junior Infants 2018

4th class have been learning all about electricity. We designed simple circuits using batteries and wire. We then used what we had learnt to design lighthouses with a simple switch to turn them on and off. We added lots of interesting features and characters.

Keeping Active in Third Class!

3rd class have had a very active few weeks! We had a visit from the Fyffes Fit Squad, and enjoyed a fantastic morning of fun and exercise. We were shown lots of exercises we can do at home which don’t require any equipment or a lot of space. Thank to you coach Tom for putting us through our paces and for the free bananas!

We had our sports day on June 6th. We really enjoyed taking part in all the different races with our teams. Congratulations to the yellow team who were the overall winners of the senior school sports day. We all really enjoyed ice cream and having a go on the bouncy castles after the award ceremony!

Junior Infant School Tour 2018

Last week Junior Infants went on their first school tour to Imaginosity in Sandyford. They have been using creative play all year during their Aistear programme and got to experience more real life settings and new materials in Imaginosity. The weather was so good they got to play on the rooftop playground and have a picnic with their friends! Passers-by were remarking on how well behaved and happy they were! They were all exhausted by the end of the day. Their teachers were very proud of how they behaved and enjoyed themselves on the day.
