Monster Raffle

There was incredible excitement today when we all went to the P.E. hall for the Monster raffle organised by our Parents Association. Everybody, including the teachers,  had their fingers crossed hoping to be one of the lucky winners of the fabulous prizes on display. There was one lucky girl picked out from each class and then all the tickets were added to a draw for the remaining prizes.

Two teachers were prizewinners…congratulations Ms. Collins and Ms. Breslin

Well done to the Parents Association. It took a lot of organizing and hard work.A huge thanks to all the parents and local businesses who donated prizes, vouchers etc.

Knitting For Charity

Ellen Rylands is a 5th class pupil here in Ms. Keane’s class. She is a talented knitter and during the Easter holidays she put her talent to good use.

Her aunt Laura is a lecturer at Maynooth University, in the Froebel Department (Primary School Teacher Training). They have been in partnership for the last 10 years with the Hope Foundation, under the Froebel Hope Teacher Education Partnership.

Her aunt does a huge amount of work with them and travels to India twice a year to bring and support Irish students who work alongside the Hope teachers in state primary schools in Kolkatta, India for up to 5 weeks in the summer.

From listening to Laura, Ellen would be familiar with the resources the children have and the conditions that they learn in. She decided to try and raise some money to help them.

She knit and decorated over 60 chicks that were each filled with a chocolate egg. She sold them to family, friends and neighbours for €2 each. In the majority of cases people were so impressed with her work they paid in excess of the price asked, she has raised over €220.  This is the equivalent of 17,858 rupees. A pack of pencil, eraser, copy and crayons would cost less than 100 rupees.

The money will be presented to the Froebel Hope Partnership this week.

Here’s a few pictures of her work!

Ellen recently finished a Pomeranian puppy in The Knitting and Crochet Club. Keep up the super knitting Ellen!

Monster Raffle

The Parent’s Association’s Annual Fundraiser  is a Monster Raffle which will take place at a special assembly on Friday 27th April 2018 in the main School Hall.

The raffle will be drawn by our school principal, Carmel Hume, and is certain to provide great excitement for the girls. A raffle ticket priced at €5 each will be provided to each girl in the school by their class teacher  on April 17th and sent home for completion (contact name/number).

This ticket must be returned fully completed with the entry fee of €5 to their class teacher before Tuesday 24th  to ensure inclusion in their class raffle and the monster raffle all of which will take place at the school assembly on Friday 27th April. Each class ticket is colour coded and any girls wishing to purchase additional tickets may do so through their class teacher, this will facilitate making the raffle draws run smoothly. There is a class prize for all 23 classes in the school, therefore a winner in each class. All tickets will then be included in the monster draw for some fantastic prizes! All prizes come with a Homework Pass which is certain to bring a smile to all faces.

Once again, we are delighted with the positive response from local businesses and parents within the school to our sponsorship request. Among the many fantastic prizes are tickets to Taylor Swift and Michael Bublé in concert, an Ipod, a Scooter, Family passes to The Wax Museum, Dinner at Brambles, Hampers, Gift Vouchers for: BDazzling Hair & Beauty Salon, Eddie Rockets, Base Pizza, Foam Café, Village Bistro, O’Brien’s Wines and many more!
