The 3rd classes had a great day out in Lullymore yesterday. We saw lots of animals and we played in the outdoor playground. We saw a replica of a famine cottage, a hedge school and we learned lots of interesting facts about life in Ireland in the past. We loved visiting the Fairy Bower and making a wish at the fairy Tree. We had a road train ride around the Bog of Allen. It was a fantastic day out !
We had our annual Arts and Crafts awards today in the hall. These awards are in memory of JJ Macken and Nora Brew who were great supporters of the school and the arts. We watched a slide show celebrating their lives and saw some wonderful examples of their work. Some of their work is on permanent display around the school. The recipients of the awards were thrilled to win and we were delighted to welcome JJ’s widow Áine who presented the awards.
Here’s just a few memories of our hectic year. Well done girls, we wish you every happiness and joy. it’s been a pleasure.
We have had a very busy Active Week here in Presentation Primary School. We had dancing and circuits everyday in yard. We had a very successful (and dry!) sports day on Tuesday.
On Wednesday we had our medal ceremony and we were delighted to show off our newly awarded Active Flag
Lots of classes went shopping with our Lidl vouchers and bought fruit to make smoothies.
We had a fantastic dance workshop with Kim and on Friday we walked a mile with a smile. We all had a chance to have a “bounce” on the bouncy castles !
Our International week was officially launched at a special assembly last Monday. We were delighted to welcome Marie Claude Meylan, the Swiss Ambassador to Ireland, who opened the proceedings.
What an action packed week we’ve had ! Our former staff member Ms. Angela Griffin returned to tell us about her many trips to India teaching in schools over there.
Lots of parents came in to classes to talk about their culture/country of origin or a country they had spent time in. The children were fascinated to hear such interesting memoirs and they asked lots of pertinent questions ! Every class studied a country and the pupils then visited other classrooms on a journey around the globe. Each pupil had a passport that was stamped in each country they visited.
On Friday we dressed up in international clothes. There was a stunning display of beautiful outfits from around the globe.
We has a display in the hall of some international music and dance. Some of our own pupils danced the Cha-cha -cha, we saw a tango and we saw some fabulous dancing from Sandra. There was also an African drumming group.
Finally each class enjoyed some wonderful food from around the world
Looks like all of our laps on the yard has paid of we had some really fast runners this year!!!
