Getting Ready for International Week

We are busy getting ready for International Week which will start on May 29th. Lots of children have brought in artifacts and interesting objects from around the globe. We have a huge wall map on display showing the countries of origin of our pupils and parents. We are looking forward to a fun filled week celebrating diversity. There will be international dancing, multicultural art competitions and food from many different countries. Lots of parents have volunteered to come in and talk about their cultures and customs.

We are busy learning songs. The week will be officially launched by the Swiss Ambassador at a special assembly on Monday.

Building Sheds!

Ms. Donnelly’s girls had great fun this week building sheds.

We used lego to build  sheds for the tractors on the farm.

We worked together and had great fun.

We were delighted to hear recently that we have been awarded our 4th green flag for Travel. RTE News2day visited our school on Tuesday May 16th to film us and to interview some members of the Green Committee.

Glenroe Farm 2017

The Senior Infants had a great time at Glenroe Farm. We met lots of animals. We fed the goats lots of grass and we got to pet the lambs too. We had a picnic outside and we had lots of fun in the huge playground.

Hugh Lane Gallery

The 3rd classes recently visited the Hugh Lane Gallery. We had a guided tour of the galley and we viewed paintings by a number of different artists. We loved Sean Scully’s work and the beautiful stained glass work of Harry Clarke.

We also saw the Frances Bacon studio…what a messy room !

After the gallery we went to the Garden Of Remembrance and enjoyed our lunch in the beautiful sunshine. We saw the statue of the Children of Lir

We have been inspired by our gallery visit to paint in the style of Sean Scully. We painted on paper and on canvas

Our Fantastic Choirs !

All the pupils from 1st to 6th class went to the hall today to hear both our Senior and Junior choirs perform. The choirs had an extremely successful trip to the Navan Choral Competition recently . Congratulations to all the girls and to their teachers Ms. Morrissey and Ms. Keating
