Our Anniversary Celebrations

Today was a very special day in Presentation Primary School’s history. It was exactly 150 years ago today that the Presentation nuns opened our school for the first time. We have been very busy getting ready for this momentous occasion. We have a display in the front hall with an old school desk, some posters ,books and other artifacts from days gone by!

The stage was decorated for our special assembly and we had lots of balloons.

At 10 o’clock we all went in to the hall for assembly. Ms. Sheehy’s class told us all about Nano Nagle. One pupil from each class came to the stage and told us the history of our school. We sang our commemorative song “Presentation’s World” written by our very own Ms. Kearney .Ms. Gibbons made a special cake and Ms. Neville’s 6th class won it in a raffle.

We have a fabulous new banner celebrating our 150 years

Our Sesquicentennial Preparations

We are busy getting ready for our sesquicentennial celebrations. We have watched a slide show about the history of our school.DSCN3008

We have enjoyed looking at photos of our school from the past. We can’t believe how much our school has changed and we really enjoyed learning about the history of the convent.

We are also busy learning a song called “Presentation’s World” which we will sing at a special assembly on Thursday September 29th

Our School Building

The Presentation nuns first came to Terenure in 1866. They opened the school in September of that year in temporary classrooms. The proper building was completed in 1889 and is still in use today.

1866-2016

Presentation Primary School will be celebrating 150 years of education this academic year.
Current Presentation Primary School pupils and teachers will initially celebrate during the school day on the 29th September 2016, the date the Presentation Nuns first welcomed pupils in 1866. Former pupils, current and former families and past teachers and friends will all be invited to celebrate with us at a later date.  The committee would like to invite you to celebrate 150 years of education with us. More details about the celebrations will be sent to you and will be posted on our school website once they are finalised by the sesquicentennial  (150 year!) committee.

We need your involvement and help!

We need you to spread the news about the celebrations!

We need stories and photos about life at Presentation Convent/ Primary School over the years!

We would like to display a Photo Wall of old photos over the coming months. Are you a past pupil yourself or do you know of anyone who is, and who might be willing to share their photos or memoirs with us? We would love our current pupils to learn about the history of our school over the years. Would you know of anyone who might be willing to talk to some of our pupils about their time in Presentation? Would you or any of your relatives have kept any artefacts from schooldays here?  If you are artistic, would you be willing to share your talent by helping us put together an artistic display?

If you feel you can help us in any way, please contact a committee member via the school office 086 8678093. Many thanks.
