Archive for January, 2016

The Junior and Senior School Assemblies were held today. We heard about St. Brigid and sang a song about Brigid bringing the Spring. We presented cheques to Casa and Edenmore Early Education Centre. Each charity received €650 from our recent coin collection. The Green Committee told us about our upcoming events for walking, cycling or scooting to school. At the Senior Assembly the award was for handwriting and the third classes told us all about Chinese New Year. They sang a lovely song called Kung Hei Fat Choi which is Chinese for Happy New Year.

Coins For Charity

We had great fun sorting  all our coins into different containers. Then it was finally time to count the money. The Friends of St. Luke very kindly lent us their coin counting machine and they even helped us operate  it. The final total was €1300 and we will be sharing the money between CASA and Edenmore Early Education Centre. Ms. Carney’s class were thrilled and very excited to win the “Guess the Total Competition” with a guess of  €968.07. Well done girls ! They received a well deserved night off homework. A big thank you to all the pupils and their families who made this initiative such a success.

Change For Charity

As part of our Maths All Around Us initiative, we collected coins for charity in the front hall during the month of December. There was an incredible response from our pupils. Every class gathered up lots of coppers and the container began to fill up. Each class then had to estimate how much they thought the container held. The estimates ranged from €87.24 to €2,142! The money will be counted shortly and we will reveal the final total. Watch this space !
