Green News

We are very busy in the Green Committee at the moment working towards gaining our third green flag. Our theme is water and we’ve been busy preparing in lots of different ways.

We have run a poster competition, we’ve placed water saving devices into our toilet cisterns and we’ve created our  “water footprint” in the front hall which we hope you will take time to look at. Each class has also put together a scrap book to show the many ways we’re trying to save water at home. The Green School’s Co-ordinator will be paying us a visit next Tuesday. We’re really looking forward to our water action day tomorrow…. We’ll keep you posted!

We have been learning all about the Vikings in 3rd class. We know that they were great sailors and built ships called longboats. They were fierce warriors and travelled to Ireland and other countries looking for treasures.

The Vikings were also skilled in woodcarving and metalwork. They were extraordinary craftsmen.

Book Week

The author Gillian Perdue came to visit us.

She read a cool story about Conor’s Cowboy Suit. YEEHAW!

We read stories with our reading buddies.

Sarah Webb talked to us about her books and she read us an extract from her new book “Mollie Cinnamon Is Not a Cupcake”

We set a target of 1000 books to read during Book Week but we read a lot more than that! 3,320 books in total.

Junior Infants went to ‘The Village Bookshop’ in Terenure. Brendan read some wonderful stories for us.

Lots of parent came in and read us lovely stories.
