A video of the Mass will be on the blog  for those of you who miss us live!

Summer Assembly

We had our final assembly of the school year today led by the three 5th classes. They sang some summer songs to get us in the holiday mood!. They reminded us of some highlights of the past year and Ms. Hume then awarded certificates to the pupils who had full attendance this year. Our lollipop lady Jane is retiring and Ms. Hume presented her with some flowers to mark the occasion. Another long-serving member of staff, Maureen O’Gorman ,is also retiring and we bade her an emotional farewell. The pupils presented her with a memory book and flowers. Everybody here in Presentation Terenure is looking forward to a fun filled and relaxing summer break. The school will reopen on Thursday August 28th.

India Trip

Angela Griffin, a Senior Infant teacher is off to India on July 5th to work with Indian teachers. Folens helped to sponsor some of the trip and took lovely photos of the class and Ms. Griffin wearing a traditional sari.

Ms. Tully’s Class Movie

4th Class Novel

In 4th class we read ‘Why the Whales Came’ by Michael Morpurgo. It was a great book because it was interesting, without being too complicated, and really enjoyable. It takes place in the Scilly Isles. The three main characters are Gracie, Daniel and The Birdman. Gracie and Daniel like to sail model boats together, but when two swans invade their usual place they have to find another spot to sail their boats. There is only one place they can go, the forbidden Rushy Bay! The reason it’s forbidden is that it is home to The Birdman, the local mad man (or so they think). At first Daniel and Gracie are pretty wary of The Birdman and stay clear of him, but soon they begin to communicate through messages in the sand made from shells and sticks and stones, finally they start to meet in person, and become great friends. Gracie and Daniel visit The Birdman every chance they get and everything is going fine-until the war starts and Gracie’s Father decides to join the Navy. Will he die at sea? Will he survive? And will the whales have something to do with his fate? Read the book to find out.

School Trip to Sealife, Bray

First class have been learning all about habitats and how animals adapt to the environment around them. We were very excited to visit Sealife in Bray on our school trip and experience some of these habitats first hand. While we were there we took part in a workshop all about habitats and adaptation and we also took a trip around the aquarium. We saw lots of animals like sting rays, sharks and clown fish. We even got to touch a starfish! Our trip was finished off with a (wet but fun) trip to the beach!
