Message from Ms. Hume

Wow what a very busy week we have had here in Presentation. On Monday night our girls sang in the concert hall as part of the National Children’s Choir. On Tuesday twenty four girls participated in Santry Sports with our U10 Relay team winning bronze.
First classes had an India Day on Thursday and on Friday we welcomed our new Junior Infants and their parents.6th class girls were tour guides for the day and they did a fabulous job.
Well Done to everyone.

A Visit to the Shoe Shop

Junior Infants paid a visit to the local shoe shop in Terenure. Here are a few samples of their writing about their trip.

Orienteering in Junior Infants

The Junior Infants are practising their early orienteering skills. They have to find objects, work in pairs and record their findings. Co-operation is also a key skill in early orienteering. Here are some photos of Ms. Heffernans class using their orienteering skills

Science and Chocolate!

The girls in Ms. Carney’s 3rd class have been learning all about Materials and Change. We decided to have some melting fun with chocolate. We melted lots of chocolate and it changed from a solid to a liquid. We made Rocky Road and Biscuit Cake. We also had a chocolate fountain. We had marshmallows, strawberries and apples. Some of our parents will have a difficult job getting all the chocolate stains off our clothes! We had a choco-tastic day!

May is the month of Mary: Ms. Coughlan’s Class

May is the month of Mary.

Ms. Coughlan’s class have drawn some beautiful pictures of Holy Mary.

They remind us to think of Mary during May and to say the Hail Mary.

Cake Sale

On the 2nd May 2013 5th class had a bake sale to raise money for the LauraLynn Foundation. 3rd , 4th , 5th and 6th classes all went to the bake sale and bought lots of delicious cakes, muffins and buns. The girls had great fun and managed to raise €690 for this very good cause. Our photo shows 5th class presenting the cheque to Mary Whelan from the LauraLynn foundation.

Congratulations to Ms. Keane’s 5th class who presented a cheque for €780 to the Laura Lynn foundation. They raised the money by having a cake sale and boy were their cakes delicious and home made!

Girls, well done to all of you on  all of your great posts.  It is so hard to keep track of all the wonderful work happening every day

We are learning about magnets. We made electro-magnets by using an electrical circuit to magnetise a nail.
